Kathina is a Buddhist festival which comes at the end of Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat for Theravada Buddhists. The season during which a monastery may hold Kathina is one month long, beginning after the full moon of the eleventh month in the Lunar calendar (usually October). It is a time of giving, for the laity to express gratitude to bhikkhus (Buddhist monks). Lay Buddhists bring donations to the temple, especially new robes for the monks.

For those who are interested and are able to join, we offer evening chanting and meditation session and lay Buddhists can come every day to share this with the monks. The summer start time is 7 PM to 8:30 PM (May – October) The winter start time is 6 PM to 7:30 PM (November – April)

For those who are interested in learning how to meditate and to develop your inner most best qualities such as loving kindness, compassion, patience, understanding and are able to make an appointment to come and see the monks for this special session.
